Democratizing Knowledge Project

The Democratizing Knowledge Project is a program that offers grants on a competitive basis to Brown faculty and university initiatives that are focused specifically on engaging the broader public with cutting edge research.

The DKP provides grant support to Brown faculty and university initiatives that have as their specific purpose the engagement of the broader public with cutting-edge research. Individual allocations are up to $5,000 and come with a supplement of up to $2,500 to support the development of a bespoke public engagement and communications plan and toolkit in collaboration with the JNBC public engagement accelerator team.

The DKP invites applications from across the widest possible range of historical and disciplinary contexts. A call for proposals with more detailed information will be issued in February for projects that will fall into the subsequent academic year. The JNBC expects to fund up to five project grants per year.
