John Nicholas Brown Center for Advanced Study

Maria received her Ph.D. in Russian literature at Brown in 2002. She has two decades of experience as an academic administrator at Brown managing multiple academic units, including the Center for the Study of the Early Modern World and the Medieval Studies Program. She was also the core administrator of the Medieval and Early Modern History Seminar as well as the French Center of Excellence.

She has served on the President’s Staff Advisory Council and volunteered at the Center for Language Studies as a language facilitator, a program created to help language learners improve their oral skills. Maria joined the administrative team at the JNBC in April 2024.
